https://bluenotehawaii.com/Since 2012, Adagio has been bringing a unique brand of R&B/neo-soul influenced jazz to the Honolulu music scene.
Vocalist Riya Davis moved to Oahu as a teenager and has performed as a back-up singer for artists such as Natalie Cole, Michael McDonald, Ruben Studdard, Ray Parker Jr., Shiela E., Bobby Caldwell, Kenny Loggins, “Ready” Freddie Washington, Denice Williams, Gwen Stefani and Mikey Dread.
Joshua Kaye, the bandleader and keyboardist, moved to Honolulu in 2008 after twelve years in the San Francisco jazz scene. In 2003, he released his first CD entitled “The Joshua Kaye Quartet – Live!” which featured sidemen who were veterans of the Cal Tjader band and was described as “kinetic Latin swing” (allaboutjazz.com). Since moving to Hawaii he has produced several CD’s featuring local Honolulu musicians. Most recently, he recorded some tracks with New York trumpeter Eddie Henderson for a cd project which is scheduled to be released later this year. He also played with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra in March for their Judy Garland Tribute Concert. He currently performs every evening at Sarento’s (top of the Ilikai) either solo, duo, or with his trio.
